In 1979, Eric Howlett developed LEEP (Large Expanse Extra Perspective), a stereoscopic display in a smaller form factor which could deliver an extreme wide angle viewing experience. LEEP remained the basis of technical influence for the later developed VR displays by organizations like NASA and VPL.
