On the last day, the statues are taken through the streets in a procession accompanied with dancing, singing, and fanfare to be immersed in a river or the sea symbolizing a ritual see-off of the Lord in his journey towards his abode in Kailash while taking away with him the misfortunes of his devotees.
Meanwhile, other large ganpati idols are being immersed (visarjit) at the very same time at Girgaon Choupati and other water bodies.
Then comes the procession of the most awaited idol (The LalBagcha Raja) which starts its journey from lal baug and after completing its journey throughout Mumbai, reaches Girgaon Chowpati in the morning. This visarjan is observed by a very large crowd marking the conclusion of the festival.
