In the banks of river Swarnamukhi is Srikalahasti known as the holy place located in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh which also covers the Tirupati Urban region. It is also well known for the textile painting known as “Kalamkari”. This town has many educational institutes located in this region, it is largely dependent on agriculture and tourism.

Jewellery is the essential part of an individual as it beautifies their appearance, it also acts as an identification by which he/ she is recognized to which region of India they belong to. Beads are generally of various sizes with different shapes made either of glass, wood, plastic etc. It is generally passed through specialized thread, flexible wire to obtain required pattern of chains/ necklace.

As per the craftsmen, previously the beads were made in this place, nowadays it is exported from China therefore referred to as China beads. Small, medium, large, differently designed pattern beads are generally preferred for the making of this jewellery. It is made in the available space in and around house and by women of this place also accompanied by the males in few stories. Varied patterns of earrings, bracelets, chains/ necklace are made here.
