Abanindranath Tagore:
He was the principal artist and creator of 'Indian Society of Oriental Art'. He was one of the first artists who represented Swadeshi values in Indian art. He was the founder of the influential Bengal School of Art, which gave birth to ‘modern Indian painting’. Abanindranath Tagore was the only artist in the country at that time who was able to create the effect of Venetian color with crayons. He learned pastel drawing techniques from Ghilardi and Palmer’s lessons that established Abanindranath as the foremost portrait painter in India.
