Contribution:

Making an animation film is only possible when people from different fields come together as a team and collaboratively work towards producing the final film. For our film ‘The Spider and the Fly’, a team of creative minds contributed to various departments through the stages of the project.

The team of enthusiastic creatives made the project a fun learning experience. It was always a delight to get insights from the team that made the film more exciting and refined. We’re thankful to have them on board with us through the journey of producing this film and for their valued contribution in the same.

Learning and the Journey Ahead:

Through this project, we have experienced the learning curves of every stage of creating a self-produced animation short film. Along the way, we learnt the animation pipeline. We developed an understanding of the various steps of production and made notes about important aspects and considerations. These notes will assist us in the production of the remaining film, which will increase efficiency. We also learnt software that is an industry-standard in 2D animation - Toonboom Harmony. In the current pandemic scenario, we learn to collaborate remotely, manage resources and communicate efficiently.

While this film will give a glimpse into a part of the animation process, the lip-sync, clean-up, colour and final composite of the film remains. We will be working to finish the film soon. Due to the extensive length of the film and the scope of work, we decided to onboard a team of student animators to help contribute to the film’s production. We used social media platforms such as Facebook groups, Instagram and Whatsapp to recruit new members for the animation team and received responses from the batches B.Des I and B.Des II.
