Powdered form soft pastels can be used to cover the larger areas in the drawing. For this one needs to rub the pastels on the sandpaper to create fine powder of pastel colors. Razor blade and sharpener can also be used for sanding purposes. This sanded fine powder can be applied and blended using cotton, sponge or brush. This is applicable for only chalk pastels and not for oil pastels.
