Tailoring Applique

At Norbulingka Institute, the tailoring section is divided into two; tailoring Thangka appliques and tailoring designs. Thangka appliques are elaborate creations of silk embroidered with thread and horse tail hair. These appliques traditionally used to depict Buddhist deities measure about two feet to even sixty feet and more. Recently, Norbulingka’s creative team applied this technique to traditional tailoring to form a unique collection of products; naming its tailoring designs. These collections include a clothing line, home furnishings like cushions, bedcovers, wall hangings, and utility items like laptop bags, pouches, wallets, etc. The products are an exclusive combination of traditional style with western designs, often updated with modern use to keep up with the trend. Thus making it their unique line of Tibetan-influenced brand. Most of the products are created from handwoven Norbulingka cloth mixed with organic cotton, wild silk, and woolen threads. The products range starts from Rupees 380 to 4,000.
