Five Young Graduates from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, during their final year on campus, sit together over cups of chai at the campus gate and give birth to an idea called ‘Elephant’. Synonymous with an identity that is Indian in spirit, they venture into establishing a multi-disciplinary design consulting firm founded on dreams of the young and the energetic well ahead of their times, when the profession of Design was still searching for acceptance amongst Indian industries. Ashish Deshpande, Ashwini Deshpande, Partho Guha, Sudhir Sharma and Gargi Gupta were the co-founders of Elephant Design at its inception in 1989.

It is 25+ years since then, team Elephant Design has grown during which period two of its founder members Mr. Sudhir Sharma and Ms. Gargi Gupta have moved on to venture into new terrain and the other three founding members continue to lead a team of nearly 65 designers. Their experience, unflinching instincts and great motivation has made Elephant Design amongst the leading design-consulting firms in India who have collectively left an imprint of design service to Indian industries that are amongst the best. Having been in the scene for nearly three decades they have seen the changing landscape of design transformation that is seen in India over these years, they have in fact been instrumental in bringing some of those changes as well. They have been providing integrated design solutions to clients in banking, information technology, telecommunications and consumer goods, automobile, pharmaceutical and infrastructure development for nearly three decades now. An impressive client list of more than 100 leading firms, both national and international, stand testimony to this. 

Today, Elephant Design is recognized as an Indian based international strategic design and brand consultancy firm that delivers solutions and ideas that are an amalgamation of ‘need meets beauty’. They have offices in the Indian metropolises and Singapore. With contacts spread out through Asia, Europe & Americas, they are able to keep pace and in some instances give fair competition to others.
