Spinning toys are simple toys designed to be spun on the ground on the tip of the axis. These toys remain balanced on the tip due to inertia. Tops are shaped like a peg where the top of the body is much wider than the bottom, or tip. Sometimes a string, stem or cap is included to make the top spin; when the string is pulled quickly, it causes a rapid unwinding that sets the top in motion.

Tops are one of the world’s oldest toys. They are typically made of wood but are also found in other materials like clay, metal, plastic, etc. Children are often seen having hours of fun while playing with tops. The older children learn concepts of symmetry and balancing by observing a spinning top.
